Pat Klous serviced the friendly skies as stewardess Marcy Bower In ABC's "Aloha Paradise," she was social director Fran Linhart. Now, on her third series, the actress finds herself sailing the high seas as cruise director Judy McCoy, sister of Julie McCoy (Lauren Tewes), on "The Love Boat" (Saturdays on ABC). Ms. Klous took over the reins this season when Miss Tewes, who had appeared in the role of Julie for the previ ous seven years, suddenly disappeared from "The Love Boat." It was difficult at first, but the actress, having sur vived the transition, made the proper adjustments. And in playing her new character, she's found a difference between the two sisters. "We're all trying to develop this character together -- a sort of extension of Julie." says Ms. Klous. "But for now, Judy does a lot of Ann Landers stuff. She's involved in a lot of people's problems. I do seem to give an awful lot of advice." The newest addition to the series was one of the most in-demand models of the prestigious Wilhelmina Agency ir. New York before she took up acting. She made the switch when "Flying High" premiered in 1978 "Aloha Paradise" followed thereafter. Taking a respite to marry and become a mother. Ms. Klous returned to work in 1983 to join "The Love Boat" for a guest appearance when they sailed tc China In Jan. 1984, when she was asked to become a regular, she wanted the role. Described as "perky" during most of her career, the actress objects to the label. "One casting director said I had a cheerleading complex." says Ms. Klous. "It's a problem and I have to fight that. It's a matter of gaining a little maturity. I think there's a.character hidden in this body. It's a reality, the way people perceive you. I don't see myself as a beautiful person. I would like to show anger. I would like to expose all those emotions I can let loose. The anger to make you cry. I'd like to be nasty." Ms. Klous hopes that in the future she will be able to prove her versatility. "I try to be honest with my personali ty to show people the real me. I never live for the future. I want to get better with what I'm doing." 019*5 Computog THE WIZARD OF OZ Jack Haley (I.) is the Tin Woodsman and Bert Lahr, the Cowardly Lion, in the classic (notion picture. "The Wizard of Oz."
