"I am hapjpv to announce the expansion of the curriculum at this school to include upper division and master's level courses , in electrical, mechanical and industrial engineering," Thompson said. In announcing the $1.6 billion budget for higher education in FY 1986, Thompson said $1 million would be earmarked for the NIU engineering school the first year, including $600,000 for equipment. The school is expected to train 120 students the first year and grow to a capacity of 500.
