MARCH 15.1985 Injuries sustained in traffic accidents Concerts associatio^eek^nembers A McHenry area woman was treated and released from Northern Illinois Medical Center (NIMC) following a three- vehicle collision at Crystal Lake Koad and Elm Street last Monday. Kristin Ort, 5606 Ridgeway, Ringwood, attempted to make a left turn in front of an oncoming gravel truck when the broadside collision occurred. The driver of the truck was Daniel H. Lubkeman, 33545 Idlewild, Gages Lake, ni. As the truck and car slid across the intersection, they hit a blue van, which was stopped to make a right turn. The van was pushed into the traffic signal control box at the southeast corner. Neither the truck driver nor the driver of the van, Maria M. Grossman, 7611 Carlton, Spring Grove, were injured. Ort was ticketed for failure to yield the right-of-way. McHenry fire and rescue units were also called Monday af ternoon to another accident that occurred at the intersection of Front Street and Medical Center Drive at 4:58 p.m. E Alfe, 5209 Green brier, McHenry, was stopped in traffic, waiting to make a left turn when her car was struck in the rear. The driver of the other vehicle, Sandra Jean Freund, 234 Lincolnshire, Crystal Lake, said she remembered nothing of the accident. Both drivers were taken to NIMC for examination and treatment. Freund was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Learning disabled program attracts numerous parents Plalndealer Herald New* Service From all indications, the Parent-to-Parent Training Project for parents of children with learning disabilities, held at McHenry County College, was a success. A total of 49 people from McHenry County participated in the project, sponsored by the McHenry County Association for Children with Learning Disabilities (ACLD). Four sessions were held at MCC during February and were sponsored by the Coordinating Council for Handicapped Children. The project was funded by a U.S. Department of Education parent training grant. Sixteen people attended all four sessions and are now qualified to conduct training sessions for other interested parties. In order to ensure continuity and follow-through, the Coor dinating Council will provide consultation and technical assistance during and after the training period. The purpose of the training sessions is to provide in formation, referral and linkage on special education rights. The sessions also include effective communication, problem- solving techniques and training on advocacy, negotiating and medication skills. The McHenry County ACLD hopes to hold a training session in the near future, and in terested people should call the president of the McHenry ACLD, Karen Scholl, at 455-2817. The membership campaign for the 1985-86 season of Com munity Concerts Association is in full swing.
