Reckell's current status as the hottest hunk on day­ time television does have its drawbacks. While most soap stars enpy a some­ times leisurely work sched­ ule. the Serpico-esque actor puts in almost as many hours as the star ot a weekly hourlong series. Twelve-hour days at the studio are commonplace for the Lansing, Mich., native. His character is so popular that he tends to monopolize the soap's dai­ ly story line. But there is1 more to Reckell's climb to the top of the soap world than his shaggy appearance. "The transition to long hair and a beard not only changed my career, but my life," explains Reckeil. "I used to do things to please people thinking that to work I had to look and act a certain way Then when I wasn't getting work. I fig­ ured why not do what l want to do?" . "Sure trie hair and tne beard can't come off when I'm not Bo, but the tattoo and the leather jacket aren't me," ReckeJ^says. "I have a separate jml. "Bo is outgoing but obnoxious and doesn't get along with everybody. I have a good time playing him because of the variety. I never know what will hap­ pen with him. But by being so unpredictable he has helped me come out of my shell because of the atten­ tion the show has brought to me," he says. Reckeil also hopes to get the attention of movie producers. Although he has a year remaining on his "Days" contract, he admits he is already looking ahead.
