.... 1? Carpentersville man killed in collision last weekend A fatal accident in Kane County involving drivers from Carpentersville and Woodstock was investigated Saturday by Illinois State Police. The accident occurred about 3 p.m. Saturday on Huntley Road at the intersection of Binnie Road. Gregory Hodson, 28, of 2134 Morningside, Car­ pentersville, was killed, police said. According to police, Robert V. Wielgowzinski, 36, of 340 S. Madison, Woodstock, was driving north on Huntley Road, and Steven V. Brajki, 24, of 2134 Morningside, Carpentersville, was driving east on Binnie Road. Brajki was reportedly unable to stop his vehicle which slid through the stop in­ tersection and collided with the Wielgowzinski vehicle. The victim, a passenger in the Brajki vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Wielgowzinski and his passengers, Jacqueline Wielgowzinski, 31, and 6-year- old Stephanie Wielgowzinski were injured in the collision. The child was taken to St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, where she is listed in fair condition in the intensive care unit. Her parents were taken to Sherman Hospital, Elgin, where they were reported in serious con­ dition in the intensive care unit. Brajki is listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit at St. Joseph Hospital. State police said no citations were issued pending further investigation into the accident. In an unrelated Saturday afternoon traffic accident in Algonquin Township, three sustained injuries, according to McHenry County sheriff's police. George H. Mathesr 46, of 2909 Stonegate Drive, Crystal Lake, was taken to Crystal Lake Ambutal by Crystal Lake Fire- Rescue, and Pamela J. Homola, 34,86 Bright Oaks, Cary, and her passenger, Jolen M. Lange, 16, of the same Cary address, were taken by Cary Rescue Squad to Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington. The accident occurred about 1:25 p.m. Saturday on Illinois 31 at Three Oaks Road when the Homola car reportedly turned into the path of the Mathes vehicle. Vivienne L. Fritz, 16, of 8909 McConnell Road, Woodstock, reportedly escaped injury in a Sunday afternoon accident on Ridgef ield Road at Country Club Road in Dorr Township. According to the sheriff's police report, Fritz lost control of her vehicle which spun around and went off the road­ way, striking a rock and a tree. Two Harvard residents were injured in a one-car accident Friday night on Lawrence Road near Ramer Road, Harvard. John R. Giovannoni, 17, of 1020 Ninth Street, and his passenger, Robin S. Uthe, 17, of 7313 Oak Grove Road, were taken to Harvard Hospital by Harvard Rescue Squad. According to the sheriff's police report, Giovannoni lost control of his northbound vehicle when its brakes reportedly failed. The car rolled over several times and came to rest in a farm field, police said. Nurse's scholarships will be offered to high school graduates. This scholarship helps cover expenses for training in the profession of nursing for a girl or boy from McHenry County. It also provides a small stipend for the recipient's personal needs. Due to continued favorable response, the association scholarship committee decided to continue the scholarship for persons over age 35.
