New stickers must be displayed by April 1, or you may receive a ticket, and fines could add up to $50. CHRISTENING Daren Scott Suchor, first born son of Dennis and Denise (Parenti) Suchor received the sacrament of Baptism Sunday, March 17, at 1 p.m. at the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption in McHenry. The chosen godparents were uncle Chuck and aunt Dawn Miller of McCullom Lake. After the ceremony, per­ formed by Father Gaynor and assisted by Ryan Miller, cousin of Daren, a buffet dinner was served at the Suchor home on Fountain Lane. The menu in­ cluded Italian beef, fried pep­ pers, lasagne, artichoke frittata, tossed salad, potato salad, baked beans and dreamsicle ello. The main dessert was a ilue eyed, blonde haired angel cake with chocolate filling. The guests included close family members, friends and Dennis's godparents, Jim and Laurie Schwarz from Des Plaines and Denise's god- a rents, Allen - and Marie cKim from McCullom Lake. Daren received many beautiful gifts, and acood time was haTJ ijy-ati on ims blessed event. EASTER CARNIVAL The annual event will take place Saturday, March 30, down at the beach nouse. This year, plastic eggs will be used in place of hard Doiled eggs. Each plastic egg will be filled with a surprise. The Beach Gals are asking for donations of plastic eggs which run about the same price as fresh eggs. If you can donate, please drop off the plastic eggs at Sandy Lasco's house, located 4902 Maple Hill, before March 29. Her number is 385-1802 if you wish to call her. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday wishes for this week go to Bette Morris, sharing March 29 with Nicole Becker,, blowing out three candles on that date; Frank Lenz celebrates March 30; Laura Huff's special day is March 31 and Jay Morris opens his cards April 1. The Y day camp is a 10-week program in the summer that serves youth in Grades one to six. The program meets on the Y property Monday through Friday. STANEK • McHenry's assessed valuation has increased from less than 35 million dollars to about 100 million dollars during Mayor Stanek's term in office. • Sales tax revenue received by the City of McHenry have reached an all-time high this year. • Working with other officials with Mayor Stanek's leadership, the City of McHenry has received in excess of a million dollars in state and federal grants for improvements in McHenry. • A new half-million gallon water tank is now being constructed in McHenry for better service and fire protection for McHenry residents. • Knox Park with swimming pool, lighted athletic fields and open spaces. • Petersen Park with picnic area, beaches, lighted athletic fields and areas for Fiesta Days and 4th of July fireworks display. • Road improvements in every area of town. • Two new road crossings over the railroad tracks at Lillian Street and Orleans Street. • Replacement of both bridges over the Fox River. • Latest in communication equipment for Police Department. • Modernized City Clerk's Office. • Removal of parking meters. • City acquired former American Legion property (near Savings and Loan) and Nye property for improved off-street parking. • Mayer Stanek is working in other parts of town to improve off street parking. • Big new addition to our public library. • Skillfully managed the purchase of Lakeland Park Water Company at no expense to the taxpayers, and will work with all concerned to make certain that any problems arising out of the transition are resolved. • Bike paths on Green Street south to Bull Valley Road. • Four new wells to insure an adequate supply of freshwater. • Maintained lowest water rates of any city in Northern Illinois. • Led the way for approval of a new hospital to be built in McHenry. • Established Developer Donation Ordinance and Capital Development Ordinance, so that developers had to pay a fair share to our schools, parks, library and water and sewer departments before using these services. • All of the above and McHenry's tax rate has actually been lowered for the last two years. This land is located near Petersen Park. • Continued road improvements and a pledge to keep McHenry's snow removal the best anywhere. • A pledge to continue to hold the line on real estate taxes.
