Riverside Dr., McHenry, died Monday, April 8,1985 in Crystal Pines Nursing Home, Crystal Lake. She was born July 11,1901, in Chicago, the daughter of James and Anastasia (Britt) Croake. A resident of the Nunda Township area the past 20 years, formerly of Chicago, Mrs. Sharkey was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Patrick Catholic Church, McHenry, and honorary member of the ladies guild. Surviving are her husband James, whom she married 45 years ago on June 17,1939; and a daughter, Mrs. William (Anastasia) Slattery. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation was held from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick's church, with in­ terment in St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove, HI. Robinson, Sr., 52, 1509 Poplar St., Holiday Hills, McHenry, died Sunday, April 7, 1985, in Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. He was born June 12, 1932, in Illinois, the son of Irvin and Maude (Bray) Robinson. Mr.t Robinson had been a resident of Holiday Hills the past 12 years, formerly of Elgin, 111.; served in the army during the 1950's; was employed most of his life as a truck driver; since 1981, was a licensed real estate agent; and belonged to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, McHenry. Surviving are his wife Bettie (Schmoldt) whom he married 30 years ago on Nov. 19, 1954, in Elgin; three daughters, Mrs. Peter (Cynthia) Meehan, Sr. of McHenry, Katheryn Roberts of Wauconda and Aqgela Robinson of Holiday Hills; a son Ralph Jr. (CfttedeiflO1 of Wauconda;' five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sharon See of Elgin and Mrs. Arlene Sviensson of California; and two brothers, Richard of South Elgin and Lonnie of Elgin. Nelson, Jr., 69, of 4004 Terra Cotta Rd., Crystal Lake, died Sunday, April 7,1985, in Royal Terrace Nursing Center, McHenry. He was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Chicago, to. Arthur and Delia (Rawson) Nelson, Sr. Well-known in the McHenry area, Mr. Nelson had been a resident of Nurida Township 28 years, formerly of Park Ridge, 111., He was the owner of Nelson Horse Transportation Co. over 35 years; and belonged to the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Crystal Lake. Surviving are his wife Pearl (Johnson) whom he married Aug. 21, 1943, in Chicago; a daughter, Linda Nelson of Crystal Lkke; two sons, Ronald (Alexandra) of Racine, Wis. and David (Cynthia) of Janesville, Wis.; four grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. John (Gloria) Valentine of Sanibel, Fla. Funeral services and in­ terment were private for the family; and arrangements were made by the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the church. Richard W. Freund Richard W. Freund of McHenry died Saturday, April 6, 1985, in the emergency room of Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. He was 62, born in McHenry May 11, 1922, the son of Nick and Rose (Sch­ midt) Freund. Mr. Freund lived in McHenry all his life and had been the owner of Freund Oil Co., a Phillips 66 dealer. He was a navy veteran of WW II; and belonged to the American Legion Post 491, McHenry and the American Legion Rifle Squad. Surviving are his wife Dorothy M. (Pechous); two sons, Richard W., Jr. (Joyce) of Bollingbrook, 111. and Scott (Sally) of McHenry; three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Cindy) Smith of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Fred (Jill) Thomas of Moscow, Idaho and Ginger Freund at home; two grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Berdyne (Marge) Stewart of McHenry. * He was preceded in death by a sister Carmen Antonson. A Funeral Mass was con­ ducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption, McHenry., Burial was in the church cemetery. Friends called from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Peter M. Cygan of McHenry died Saturday, April 6, 1985, in Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. He was 77, born in Chicago Dec. 24, 1907, the son of Stanley and Anna (Paslnszna) Cygan. Surviving are a son Richard (Mary) of Mundelein, 111.; seven grandchildren; two\ great­ grandchildren ; and a sister Lillian Bykowski of New Port Richey, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife Marion (Siwek) and a son Harold F. A Funeral Mass will be con­ ducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick Catholic Church, McHenry, and burial will follow in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles, 111. Salata, 71,4702 N. Oakwood Dr., McHenry, died Friday, April 5, 1985, in Veterans Administration Medical Center, North Chicago. He was born Oct. 22, 1913, in Chicago, to Stanley and Mary (Hieser) Salata. A resident of McHenry the past 11 years, Mr. Salata had been employed many years as a locomotive engineer for the Chicago & Northwestern RR; served two enlistments with the U.S. Army; was a veteran of WW H; 15-year member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers; received a 40-year pin from McHenry VFW Post 4600; was a 17-year member of the Harvard Moose Lodge 1289; and belonged to the American Legion Post 491 six years. Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Keck) whom he married in Woodstock April 22, 1974; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Oprzedek of McHenry and Mrs. Frances Mackey of Chicago; and two brothers, Joseph, Sr. of Chicago and Casimer of Broomfield, Colo. He was preceded in death by his paregts. Funeral services and in­ terment were private for the family; and the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home handled the arrangements. A Wonder Lake resident since 1952, formerly of Saratoga Springs, Mr. Waller had been a painting contractor the past 33 years; was a WW n army veteran; and member of the Woodstock VFW Post 5040, American Legion Post, Hebron, 111., and Woodstock Moose Lodge 1329. Surviving are his wife Jane (Mosher) whom he married in July of 1945; a daughter, Mrs. Laura Ciszek of Ringwood; two sons, David of Wonder Lake and John (Bonnie) of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; and his mother, Mrs. Gladys Parker of Saratoga Springs. He was preceded in death by his father Robert. Funeral services and in­ terment were private for the family; and arrangements were handled by Justen's Wonder Lake Funeral Home. Drivers cited in accidents Citations were issued to drivers involved in separate rear-end collisions that occurred recently in McHenry. McHenry Police report that Barbara A. Wernquist, 4703 Hill Road, McHenry, was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after the car she was driving struck another vehicle in the 4700 block of Elm Street at about 1:24 p.m. April 4. Wernquist told investigators she did not see the other vehicle until it was too late to avoid the collision. 1 The driver of the other vehicle, Thomas L. Lynch, 1722 Huffman Blvd., Rockford, 111., said tie had stopped to make a left turn. A similar ticket was issued to Dean C. Driscoll, 12108. Hensel, Huntley, m., after his car crashed into the rear of another auto at the intersection of Route 31 and McCullom Lake Road at 2:46 p.m. April 4. Hie Driscoll auto struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Clements J. Wirfs, 3830 Mc­ Cullom Lake Road, McHenry, which had stopped to make a lot turn. Gait Squadron invites public to open house The Gait Composite Squadron, based at Gait Airport on Greenwood Road in Wonder Lake invites all to attend it's annual open house on Thursday April 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the main administration building, ground floor. Presentations will be made by staff officers and cadets relating to the goals and aspirations of the Civil Air Patrol and its relation to the community in emergency preparedness, the cadet and senior programs and the aerospace challenge of the nation's future. The squadron is presently actively engaged in a recruiting effort to enlist those who are interested in flying, community awarenesg and the aerospace challenge, both cadet and senior members.
