JHS got on the board when Bill Corns took tripled in the second for JHS, and scored on a John Gallagher single, to make it 6-1, and in the fourth, Rick Easterling singled, advanced to third on two walks, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bob McAuley to cut the Marengo lead to 6-2. In the fifth, John Kegel was hit by a pitch, and scored on a two- out double by Marie Majercik. Cornstock singled to score Majercik and slice the lead to 6- 4. . Bob Boak came on to replace Stefka, who had tired. Boak fanned the first two Indians, but. then disaster struck. Marengo strung together two bloop singles, a pop-up which fell between the pitcher's mound and second base, and a three- run triple, to boost its lead to 9-4. In Johnsburg's big sixth- inning comeback, Boak led with a single, and moved to second when Pete Switzer walked. Kegel followed with a single, his second hit of the day, and Easterling knocked in Boak and Switzer with his single. Majercik then crushed a home run to tie the duel at 9-9. In the Marengo sixth, a swinging bunt single, a bloop hit over shortstop, a double and an infield single gave the hosts the win. "I'm not disappointed," said Meyers. "We came back real nicely. I'm pleased with our comeback. # "We were much more aggressive than we were Jast game (a 7-4 loss to Harvard). We struck out 12 times, but 11 of them were swinging. At least we're aggressive. Plus we didn't make any errors," Meyers said. "If we could have gotten a break here or there, we could have won it. We deserved to win, we earned it." Johnsburg had another chance to earn that elusive first win Thursday at home against Lake Zurich. The Skyhawks will host McHenry in a non- conference battle Friday af ternoon.
