After fixing her car, he drives it to her place and, in a great moment of decision, turns away and walks home, not wishing to rock the boat. But he doesn't turn away in anger, and that's the beauty of the video. Its message is that just want­ ing the better things in life is enough to keep us going. "I'm on Fire" is as pow­ erful as anything Springs­ teen has done, including his haunting first video, "Atlantic City." Ure takes charge Midge Ure, the leader of the English synthesizer- oriented band Ultravox, learned to direct videos by watching Russell Mulcahy, one of the pioneers of the clip world. This time out, Ure decided to take the helm himself. In "Love's Great Adventure," Ure takes us into a world where things happen so fast that at one point he stops the action -- and the song -- to catch his breath. In the end, of course, he gets the girl and, with the help of the band. B r u c o S p r i n g s t e e n beats up a mean bunch of motorcycle hoodlums. It's like a good Saturday- morning cartoon come to life. Overshadowed by manikins This time out, Godley and Creme, who directed "Rocfcit" and "Two. Tribes,'-' introduce Go West, two cute guys who, given the right material, would have made an impressive debut. Unfor­ tunately, the show is stolen by a group of manikins, animated to dance like the Motown groups of the '60s. The manikins so over­ power "We Close Our Eyes" that I still can't tell you anything about Go West, except that one of the guys plays a guitar, the other holds a large wrench as if it were a guitar and the song has a good hook.
