1\ § J J ; m*x: Pioneer Center annual meeting set The annual meeting of the membership of the McHenry County Association for the Retarded will be held at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, May 3 at the Johnsburg Community Club.> The business session will open with Dixie Hogan, president, presiding. A report on the year's activities and a look at the near future will be presented by Robert Lambourn, executive director and Mrs. Hogan. Six officers are to be elected to the DR. BYRON WAKSMAN Doctor to talk to MS chapter A series of special events and activities are being sponsored by the Chicago-Northern Illinois Chapter, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, for "MS Emphasis Weeks." From May 4 to 6, Dr. Byron H. Waksman, MS Society director of research programs, will speak at three chapter area forums for persons with multiple sclerosis, their families and friends. Locally, Dr. Waksman will speak at a forum , on Sunday, May 5 in Rockforcl. The Chapter's annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon will take place on May 6. An immunologist and bac teriologist with more than 250 scientific publications to his credit, Dr. Waksman served 15 years on the Yale campus as a researcher and faculty member and 15 on the Harvard medical staff before joining the MS Society in 1978. He is respon sible for administering the research program of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society which encompasses the scientific work of 130 in vestigators. The concert will begin under the direction of Tom Wilson who will lead the Chamber Orchestra in two movements from Beethoven's Symphony No. 1, Opus 21, followed by the com plete Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins by Bach. Srloists will be Timothy Mcrntalvo, Antioch, and Tom Vos, Crystal Lake. ; . < Marie Ann Vos will direct the youngest group, the Prelude Orchestra, in E. A public hearing to present and receive public comment on Region Two Area Agency on Aging's plans to cut McHenry County's allocation, by more than 13 percent will be held on Thursday, May 23. The hearing will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the McHenry Hall, (former McHenry Hospital) 3516 W. Waukegan Rd., Room 5. . f, The McHenry County plan and the eight-county area, plan are both for a three-year period, from Oct. 1,1985 to Sept. 30,1988.
