Where's the fire? * --McHenry Township Fire Protection District The following are calls for fire department and rescue squad services received by the McHenry Township Fire Department during the past week. APRIL 23 At 3:37 p.m., the fire department was called to a natural gas ^ line rupture in the 400 block of Brook woo®. At 4:45 p.m., the rescue squad was dispatched for a person having a seizure in the 3600 block of Main Street. At 6:39 p.m., the fire department was sent to Northern Illinois Medical Center (NIMC) for a fire alarm. At 11:50 p.m., the rescue squad went to Wag's Restaurant where a person had fallen. APRIL 24 V At 4:49 p.m.,,the rescue squad was dispatched for a traffic accident on Front Street near the Knox Park entrance. APRIL 25 r ,! ,r At 12:50 a.m., the rescue squad was called to the 4800 block of Prairie for a person with trouble breathing.' At 11:27 a.m., fire and rescue units responded to a report of a torch in a house in the 100 block of South Venice Road. At l:0fyp.m., the rescue squad was sent to the 1100 block of Norjth Green Street for a person with a rib injury, APRIL 26 r At 3:V)3 p.m., the rescue squad went to the 1200 block of Third Street for a man who had fallen. APRIL 27 400 block of Brook wood. APRIL 28 / At 6:49 a.m., the rescue squad was called to the 4600 block of Parkview for a person with chest pain. At 10:40 a.m., the rescue-squad was sent to the 1600 block of Riverside-Drive for a person who had fallen. At 3:52 p.m., the rescue squad responded to the 900 ,block of Oakwood for a woman who was ill. At3:55 p.m>, the fire department was called for a brush fire in the 4500 block of Willow Lane. At 11:18 p.m., the fire department responded to a traffic ac­ cident at the intersection of Johnsburg Road and Route 31. APRIL 29 v At 9:19 a.m., the rescue squad was sent to the 1500 block Poplar for a person having a nervous breakdown. At 10:58 a.m., the^escue squad was dispatched to the 800 btock of Royal Drive to transport a patient. TV1A^ 3.1«>83 ' \ | « - V Chamber members to meet at luncheon Croup to note wildflower growth on two field trips On Saturday, May 11, the Wildflowers Preservation and Propagation Committe^of the McHenry County Defenders will be taking a look at the /wild- flowers in Kelly Woods, with an eye to understanding the con­ dition^ needed for their growth. rhe committee is interested in preserving wildflowers through propagation., Once the flowers are large enough to be tran­ splanted, they seek to introduce Ihem into such wild areas as JCelly Woods, Ryeers Woods and ^Veteran Acres Prairie. * The group will meet at the ^shelter m Kunde-Kelly Woods, a ^McHenry County Conservation iurea north of Marengo on Route ^23, at 9 a.m. Each person should •bring a light breakfast which 3will precede the walk. v On the following Saturday, ZMay 18, the group will go to the IBotanic Gardens of Chicago, on Lake-Cook Road, in Glencoe. ^There, Dave Sollenberger, a .staff member will lead the group ^through the woodlands, showing how the Gardens restored the rea-a spot competely wildflowers to the which had bee' disturbed. The committee will meet him in the parking lot of the Botanic Gardens at 8 a.m. Each person should bring a light breakfast to be eaten before the walk. The walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. from the parking lot. Those who wish to go with the group should plan to be in the rear parking lot of Dominick's store in Crystal Lake by 6:40 a.m. Car-pooling can be arranged by calling Bill Wingate at (815) 459-4985. For those who wish to meet the group at the Gardens, the simplest directions are as follows: Take Eden's Expressway (Route 41) south to Lake-Cook Road. (Lake-Cook Road is the next exit after ClaveyRoad). The exit to Lake- Cook road is on the right. Once on Lake-Cook Road, turn left. Proceed a few hundred yards. .The entrance sign will be on the right1. All visitors are welcome to joiji the group, whether or not a , member of the committee. Brian Cunat, coordinator of the Membership Council, states, "It was long ago determined by the general membership that they preferred to have the business of the Chamber assigned io the board of directors." All members of the Chamber are welcome to attend the monthly board meetings, which occur on the second Tuesday of the month, in the city council chambers, City Hall, at 7:30 p.m. But in view of tKis stated preference, regularly scheduled membership gatherings are limited to social events, such as the bi-monthly luncheons. The Chamber's vehicle for keeping the general mem­ bership informed of the un­ dertakings of the Chamber is through a quarterly newsletter and bi-weekly Chambergram. The Chambergrams announce events and are the opportunity to make reservations for the luncheons and any other, func­ tions sponsored by the Chamber. The title of the presentation is "The Medical Malpractice Crisis:-How It Effects Your Costs and the Availability of Your Medical Care."
