Church Hold mortgage burning and church Celebrates silver jubilee dedication at First United Methodist Short boy The congregation of First United Methodist Church, located at 3717 W. Main St., McHenry, will celebrate the mortgage burning and dedication of their church Sunday, May 19, at 9:30 a.m. The building project, begun in 1978, was completed in December, 1980, and the final dollar of indebtedness was paid in January, 1985. The project included a new sanctuary seating 400, a new Fellowship Hall, fiye classrooms and a choir room. It also included extensive remodeling of the old church sanctuary to form the narthex of the new church. The United Methodist Church has served the McHenry community since 1840 and is one of the oldest churches. in McHenry County. The present church structure has been located at the corner of Main and Center streets since 1859. Church leaders participating in the service will be building committee chairmen, David Dolby, Wiliam Ah#»i and Don Gerstad: secretaries Gerry Pictured above is a "Short Boy," with hat on shoulders and collar buttoned at the waist. Jay Kussell danced his way into the hearts of all who attended the annual talent show which followed the regular service Sunday, May 12, at Unity Church of Crystal Lake. This event is sponsored by the Youth Educators department. Pastor's sister to preach \ The Reverend Linda Loving will be leading the worship services Sunday, May 19, at 8:30 and 11 a.m., at the Ridgefield- Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church. She is the sister of the Reverend Doug Loving, who is on sabbatical leave. A native of Milwaukee, she is a 1984 graduate of McCormick Theological Seminary, was ordained in March, and is currently the assistant pastor of Lake Forest Presbyterian Church. The Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church is located at 8505 Church Street in Ridgefield.
