Mr. and Mrs. Price began their duties in late February- They bring many years of training and experience to their new position. Services offered by Financial Counseling, 248 N. Thropp St., Woodstock, include personal and household budgeting and a debt management program. Educational programs on the use of credit are also provided. Assistance is available to any person living or working in McHenry County. There is no charge for the initial ap pointment. Further coun- sultations are based on a sliding fee scale, as mutually agreed upon with each client. Referrals come from charge card and retail creditors, county agencies and local businesses and professionals. Executive Director Price observed, "There is a great need for this service, both from the perspective of the client and their creditors." Price also noted that everyone can face budgeting and debt- management problems at one time or another. Mr. and Mrs. Price have been residents of McHenry County for over eight years. Price previously served as Illinois Area Administrator for Crusade for Christ. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a degree in social work and has additional training in business. Mrs. Price is a registered nurse and has worked with her husband in previous as well as the current position. Financial Counseling was founded in 1982 by Church Women United and is operated as a non-profit organization under a local board of directors. The local organization is af filiated with the National Federation for Consumer Credit. Support is received from the McHenry County Mental Health Board, the United <Way and from creditors'cooperating in a debt management program. Regular office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Appointments are available evenings and on Saturday mornings. MCC child care classes slated throughout summer The Child Care Center of McHenry County College is offering a variety of develop mental and play activities to keep the young child involved and stimulated during the summer. There are programs for those 18 months to six years old, with classes in tumbling, gym nastics, art and music, language arts and cooking. In the Parents and Tots Program (age 18 to 32 months) parents are invited to par ticipate in activities that em phasize things they can do at * home with their children. Focus is also on group and outdoor play , situations. Two sections are planned, each'lasting eight weeks. One will be held 8:45 to 10:15 a.m., the other from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Both will be Fridays, June 14 to Aug. 2. The fee is $35., Tumbling Tots (ages two to three) is designed to encourage coordination and balance. The , class will meet Monday .and Wednesday, 9 to 10:15 a.m.f for four weeks. Session 'I will be held June 10 to July 3; Session JI will be held July 8 to 31. The fee is $26. Gymnastics (ages four to six) will emphasize gross-motor skill development. Classes are scheduled for Monday and Wednesday, 9 to 10:15 a.mM for four weeks. Session I will be held June 10 to July 3. Session n will be held July 8 to 31. The fee is $26. Tot Art and Music (ages two to three) is designed to provide creative art and music ex periences developmentally appropriate for the young child. Classes "will be held for four weeks on Monday and Wed nesday mornings, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Session I will be held June 10 to July 3; Session n, July 8 to 31. The fee is $30. • Art and Music (ages four to six) will provide activities and experiences in speaking, listening, pre-writing and pre- reading. Storytelling, story writing, puppetry, dramatics and field trips will be involved. Of four-weeks duration, the class will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, 9 to 10:45 a.m. Session I will be held June 11 to July 2; Session n, July 9 to Aug. 1. The fee is $32. Cooking (ages four to six) involves the child in the preparation of nutritious lun ches. Two four-week sessions are planned for Tuesday and POLLUTION VARIANCE The Modine Manufacturing Company located in Ringwood, McHenry County, Illinois has filed with the Pollution Control Board a petition for variance under Title IX of the Environ mental Protection Act. The Peti tioner requests a variance in order to discharge materials with biological oxygen demand ammonia nitrogen and total sus pended solids in excess of the Pollution Control Board's rules governing effluent and water quality. The variance would run for up to five years and would apply to Modine's discharge into a tribitary to Dutch Creek. The Environmental Protection Agency solicits the views of per sons who may be adversely af fected by the variance.
