The owners of the Chicago Cubs are putting in a new section for non-drinking fans. They'll call it a family section, for people who want to watch the boys of summer, and not be bothered by the boys of New Year's Eve. ' • In most major-league parks, coolers and large containers are examined at the gate for beer and the hard stuff, and no beer is served to fans after the seventh inning. Even the college fans are getting into the act. At a recent Lewis-Clark State-Washington State game, the heckling by the Washington State crowd so enraged the Lewis-Clark players that, after the game, they attacked their tormentors physically. Six Washington hecklers were slightly injured. The Lewis-Clark reward was cancellation of their last three scheduled games. School President Lee Vickers said that, while the team's reaction to the slurs of the Washington crowd was understandable, "We do expect our student athletes to rise above the occasion and demonstrate more discipline." Someone should try to discipline major-league baseball crowds.
