Those of.ufc who didn't get to go missed a fun day. 'CHURCH CAMPOUT . There were-6 camping units at the church campout last Weekend and there were 20 for the pot of stew that was cooked In a pig iron kettle over the open fire. Two hardy souls kept the eampfire going and the stew 1 during the rain. They protect the fire and stew umbrellas (themselves, too, sometimes). K The main attraction of the weekend was watching rac coons. No one leaves garbage out, as raccoons will raid the •garbage cans or whatever they can get into. There was a family Jof raccoons (three little ones that we could see) in one tree near the church campsites. Unfortunately, two little ones feU out. They were stunned and cried a lot, but got up and ^tumbled to the base of a tree (wrong one) and proceeded to climb. Low and behold, one of them lost its grip and fell again. He was guided to the right tree and proceeded to climb it. The rangers came by and got the other baby raccoon tran sferred to the right tree. Mamma raccoon came down and got one of them and took it to a large knothole where they called home and later did the same with the other one. They hibernate during the day and come out and travel the campground at night for food. Sunday brought a better day weather wise and after church the potlunch was attended by 33 folks from the two parishes. We also had birthday cake to help Terry Schwebke celebrate his ?? birthday. The day cleared so that those who wished, could walk the trails, canoe, fish or go out. good time wat tiad by all who attended.
