Jl \E 26.1985 benefit MCAR "We will split that wood on Monday," said Rich Mercure of McHenry, one of the vital volunteers for a successful Fish Boil Benefit Dinner by the McHenry County Association for the Retarded (Pioneer Center). On Friday, June 28 the first of four Fish Boils will take place at Veteran's Acres, Crystal Lake. A traditional Fish Boil calls for a meal cooked over wood fires, so wood must be collected, sorted and split to the correct size. Three continuous fires blaze throughout each event, so donations from friends like Jim Schultz, of McHenry are most welcome. Bob Gensler is again lending a hand cutting fish and providing coleslaw. Posters and tickets were donated by a Crystal Lake firm. Stella Domke and Kathie Stiles of McHenry are baking the apple, peach and cherry pies served with the dinners. Karl Drye of Crystal Lake will be sharing the Chef's duty with staff member Jan Trebing from Cary. The McHenry County Realtors are also lending assistance with ticket sales and manpower. Count the Pioneer Center staff members who also give their time and energy to each Fish Boil, and one knows why the benefit dinner succeed in drawing a crowd. Advance tickets are available at local Realtors', and Chamber of Commerce Offices, and all 10 Pioneer Center facilities. Call (815) 344-1230 or 455-1110.
