The annual fireworks, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, will be preceded by a city band concert since it falls on the regularly scheduled concert night. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. Senate approves malpractice reform McHenry will have a double feature to offer all who choose to stay around town for the 1985 celebration of Independence Day. The Chamber of Com merce has sponsored Fireworks for the last four years and will again this year. But this year McHenry is pleased to be able to link an extra attraction into this July 4th celebration. It has been an aspiration of the Fireworks Committee to present a program of fireworks to music, similar to that which is observed in other metropolitan areas. Although McHenry has ither the funding nor the technical capabilities of producing that type of show, they are proud to produce the next best thing-music first, fireworks following. Bill Toalson, director of the McHenry City Stage Band, announces that "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and Stars and Stripes Forever" will be in cluded in the repertoire of the patriotic melodies planned for this celebration. Toalson said, "It will be the first time that we will be performing on the new stage at Petersen Park. The lakefront setting proved to be a particulry beautiful one for the band concert during Fiesta Days last year. With the an ticipation of the Fireworks as a climax to this rousing roster of big band and victory-type tunes, we are anticipating an ex traordinary musical experience for every member of the band, as well as tor the audience. Fred Hult, chairman of the Fireworks Committee, said, "There will be plenty of parking and plenty of refreshments available. We invite everyone to come early and enjoy the many facilities of Petersen Park before the concert begins. Parking assistance will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the assistance of the Jaycees and the Emergency Service and Disaster Agency (ESDA). The $4.00 per car charge probably breaks down to be less than $1.00 per person. If we fill the parking lot, we will meet the cost of producing the fireworks and can look forward to sponsoring the Fireworkds next year. JULY 1 THRU JULY 13 Breakdance clinic is set by Park Dept. Jack Schaffer, R-McHenry County. "Legislators on both sides of the aisle have worked long hours on this measure (HB 1604) and I'm very satisfied with the resulting reform package," Sen. Schaffer said. "Health-care costs have been spiraling out of sight and members of the medical community attribute many increases to the staggering premiums they have to pay for malpractice in surance. "The measure we've passed would relieve some of that financial pressure and make health care more affordable for the citzens of Illinois," the 32nd District Senator said. "It would also protect patients with legitimate claims by making sure thev don't get lost in the mass of frivolous lawsuits which " clog the courts." The 12-point legislative package includes provisions for medical review panels to screen Coughlin to sing with city band Peggy Coughlin, of McHenry, will be the featured vocalist at the city band concert, Thursday, June 27, at 8 p.m. at Pearl Street Park. Other features by the band will be "Misty", "Sweet Georgia Brown", "I'm Gettin' Sen timental Over You" and "Cherokee". all medical malpractice lawsuits, a cap on attorney's contingency fees, attorney liability for untrue allegations, abolition of punitive damages, structured payments for ver dicts over$250,0Q0 and use of collateral sources of revenue to reduce judgments up to half.
