Many pitch in to make fireworks Since the reintroduction of the fireworks into our annual schedule of activities in McHenry, the Jaycees and the Emergency Services and Disasters Agency, ESDA, have been the vital links to the im plementation of this event. Although the coordinating organization has been the McHenry Chamber of Com merce, without the assistance of the Jaycees and ESDA per sonnel this event would not be annually possible. Fiest Days requires hundreds of individuals who spent thousands of man hours'staffing the various functions, events and responsibilities of Fiesta Days and the Chamber invests their Board members as well as general membership individuals in the scheduling of these responsibilities. When Fireworks was reinstituted in 1981, it was a cooperative effort on the part of all the service organizations in town and later reverted back to be a Chamber responsibility both financially and administratively. However, the event relies very heavily upon donations from businesses, individuals and organizations within McHenry to underwrite the $8,000 cost as well as to staff the assistant posts required to present this event. The $4.00 per car charge is intended to help defray the expenses of Fireworks even after all donations and gate fees are tallied, the event has a $3,000 to $4,000 deficit annually. It is the objective of the Chamber to reduce that deficit or reconsider the event. o The 1985 Independence Day celebration has a unique feature - the City Band Concert will occur at 8 p.m. preceding the 9:30 Fireworks display. It is the hope of the Chairman Fred Hult and the individuals and ad ditional revenue to offset the annual deficit. "Petersen Park is a delightful place anytime of year, but an especially good choice for the Fourth of July. Come early, enjoy the park's facilities, take a swim, enjoy a concert, enjoy the Fireworks and join the city-wide celebration of our national in dependence. Hope to see you all there." There will be plenty of parking and parking assistance provided.
