This was at the conclusion of an extensive training course where in the rider and horse were taught procedure that would assist McHenry County when emergencies arise. Under Sheriff George Hendle administered the oath of offioe and told the gathering how much he and Sheriff Nulle appreciated their efforts. He recalled how helpful they were last Christmas Eve when they were summoned along with other volunteers to a rural area of McHenry after a missing woman's car was found abandoned, he also com­ plimented them on their ap­ pearance in the Harvard Milk Day Parade. Those new members of the division include Kenneth and Lyn Olsen, Robert and Joan Pinnell of Woodstock and Barbara Ekman of Crystal Lake. The McHenry County Sheriff's Posse is a volunteer group of horsemen formed in 1974, whose purposes are: 1. To promote citizen involvement in local government. 2. Classroom training is also a prerequisite to becoming a deputized member of the Sheriff's Posse. Participation in parades, assisting at the County Fair, Shrine Circus and like events are also helpful in assuring readiness for emergencies.
