The cfo#d in attendance saw Sheify Syens turn over her title as Miss Wonder Lake to the new queen for the 1985 year, Anna Marie ftadcka. Anna Marie is the daughter of John and Vera Rurickaandto 19 years old.. Her ambition is to become a police officer and she has recently been sworn in with the Auxiliary Police Force of McHenry County . First runner-up honors went to Christine Grabowski, 17, the daughter of Keith and Veronica Grabowski. Registration available at the Paries and ment in City Hall until Thursday, Fiesta Days offers fun for children of all ages What is there to do for the kids for Fiesta Days? Every bit as much as there is for adults. Sometimes during the same event and sometimes at special events designed just for the kids. On opening day, July 21 famous Food Fiesta Day, there is a whole set of activities designed especially for the children. It will include in- tertainment by Tom Hubbard, the Jesse White Tumblers, the Explosonic Rockers as well as rides and game booths for children ages 4-14. Voting for the Cutest Baby Contest for infants up to one year old and the Terrific Tod dler Contest tykes ages 1 to 4 will be held that day. These events will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Carnival kiddie rides, as well as pony rides will be ongoing to 8 p.m. All these events will take place east of the beach area at Petersen Park. Canoe races are in age groups with the younger set being 14- and-under, beginning at noon at the Petersen Park beach. The kids enjoy racing among themselves or with adults. Early registration is a bargain and can be made at the chamber office. will be accepted as well. Food Fiesta will include taste treats for every age range with the Ultimate Hot Dog probably the most kid-oriented feature this year. Music will be ongoing on the main stage but the kids will probably enjoy the "Fist 'N Pistol Gunfighter" who will perform sporadically through out the day between the sets of each entertainer. Hie Chicago Sting Soccer Camp will be ongoing during Fiesta Days week July 22-26 at East Campus High School. A Big Wheels Race will be held Monday, July 22 for kids 3 - 5 years old. Participation will be limited to the first 250 registrants. Registrations are now being accepted at the Parks Department at City Hall. Check- in time on race day will be 6:15 p.m. with the race beginning at 6:30 p.m. Carnival Kiddie Rides will begin at 4:30 p.m. July 22 to give the kids time to have a ride before the race begins. Kiddie Rides will extend through the evening as long as the crowd demands. Immediately following the Big Wheels Race and-or dusk the Children's Outdoor Theatre will take place in that same area in Petersen Park just on the other side of the concessions building. This year's feature will be "Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore." Blankets or lawn chairs are a must for an evening under the stars.
