McHENRY PLAINDEALER Section A Friday, July 19,1985 Sports Sox snag Minor title McHENRY -- After cruising through the season with an unblem ished 15-0 record, the Cubs ran into a buzzsaw in the McHenry Junior Youth League Minor Division cham pionship game, falling to the White Sox, 6-3. The two teams had met earlier in the year, with the Cubs prevailing 5- 2. There was no doubt that the top two Minor Division teams were pit ted against each other Tuesday night, as the White Sox entered the fray with a 12-3 mark on the year. Each team scored a run in the second, but the White Sox blew the contest wide open with four tallies in the third, and held off a late Cubs' rally for the win. Those four runs were all the Sox would need, what with Pat Crow tossing a nifty five-hitter to lead the way, striking out 11 in the process, and was backed up by strong hitting from Jason Faunt and Brady Cur- ran, each of whom went 2-for-3. Jeff Cable was the losing hurler, and helped his own cause with two doubles. Adam Franklin went 1-for- 2 for the Cubs. Herald photo by Amy K.
