McHenry Township Fire Protection District The following are the calls for fire department and rescue squad services received last week by the McHenry Township Fire Protection District. JULY 7 At 6:34 p.m., the rescue squad responded to the 4000 block of Kane Avenue for a person with trouble breathing. JULY 8 At 4:18 a.m., the rescue squad was sent to the 3000 block of Grand Avenue for a person with chest pain. At 11:57 p.m., the rescue squad was dispatched to the 4900 block of Oakwood Drive for a heart patient. JULY 9 . At 9:16 a.m., the rescue squad went tb the 1400 block of In­ dustrial Drive for a person with a leg injury. At9:27a.m., the rescue squad was called to the 6600 block of Route 120 for a person with a leg iqjury. At 7:29p.m., the rescue squad responded to the 4800 block of Orchard Drive to transport a patient to the hospital. JULY 10 At 7:27 a.m., the rescue squad went to the 400 block of Thornwood Drive for a person having trouble breathing. •• At 8:27 a.m., the fire department was called to the 5400 block of Shore Drive for an electrical investigation. At 11:58 a.m., fire and rescue units responded to a traffic accident in the 1200 block of South Lily Lake Road. At4:24p.m., the rescue squad was notified of a man down in the 800 block of Center Street. Kirk placed third in the drivers competition for the 35-fbot bus category. She won a $100 savings bond. Kirk is a driver for Worts transit Co., in McHenry. MCC hosts blood drive to restock "I'm a trained babysitter. Would you like to see my cer­ tificate?" The pediatric department of Northern Illinois Medical Center will be conducting a babysitting program for students eleven years old through junior high level, beginning August 7. Sponsored by the McHenry Jaycees along with NIMC, this course is based upon Red Cross instruction. Students will he taught the care and safety of young children and how to handle basic responsibilities. By the time the babysitter has earned a certificate, he-she will have covered such topics as how to determine a real emergency, how to stay calm and in control, when it is necessary to call the police, what to do if the house smells of smoke, what to do if a toddler gets hurt and what to do if someone rings the doorbell and won't go away. A policeman, fireman and paramedic have been invited to speak on these potential emergencies. Police and fire safety and basic first-aid will be covered. A certificate will be awarded upon completion of this two- week class held Wednesday, August 7; Thursday, August 8; Wednesday, August 14 and Thursday, August 15,1 to 3 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
