In Flight II, it was Sharon Pep­ ping over Carolyn Harger by de­ fault, while Gloria Spiess topped Carole Barnicle in Flight III, Carol Bolger over Esther Jemiola in Flight IV, Ursula Cisliek over Fran Herrmann in Flight V. and Magda Henhapl over Sally Kelly in Flight VI. Congratulations to all the gals for three weeks of hard work. Also tucked away in memory for another year is the annual Hullaba­ loo, which was a great success for all the ladies and their guests. The "Showboat" entertainment, under Millie Simon's direction, proved to be the highlight of the evening seg­ ment of the whole affair. More currently, Tuesday's event was a doubleheader with Grand­ mother's Tournament and Beat the Champ being played concurrently. Based on net scores and played in classes, it was Dee Overton with 68 in Class A, Laverne Harpling with 72 in Class B, Carol Bolger with 68 in Class C and Peg Anderson with 75 in Class D. All those fine grandmothers! With the absence of the current club champ, Carol Cooney, her net score of two weeks ago. 76. was used as the criterion for Beat the Champ. Twenty ladies bested that. They were: Peg Anderson. Carol Barnicle. Carol Bolger, Evie Castle. Carolyn Dalton, Floss Miller. Kitty Evans. Dot Freund. Laverne Har­ pling. Ruth Misel. Floss O'Connell. Dee Overton. Betty Phelan. A note from the Nifty Niners shows that Sally Consago was the winner in Flight A and Jo Straham- mer in Flight B. Especially good rounds were enjoyed by Marilyn Wiggerman and Loretta Coatar. as were the cookies that Judy Babb was seen sharing with the Nifties. Apparently a welcome back to Diane Davis who's been absent for a while. A few birdies and a few chip-ins were recorded on this glorious d! Birdies were executed by Gladys Warfield and Bernice Dolce on 14 and by Betty Smith on 8. Chip-ins were by Kitty Evans on 10, Marilyn Wiggerman on 18 and Betty Rode on 7 out of the sand. What an eye! Next week will bring a one-day event, Pick Your Partner Best Ball. Then on the 54-hole Club Champion­ ship Tournament which will run for three weeks. And in the meantime, all things are in place for the big­ gest women's event of the season. On Aug. 8-9. the women will be hosting the llth Annual McHenry Women's Invitational - The Pink & Green. Linda Fornacairi chipped in on lohg No. 17 for a beautiful birdie four. Lou LaBay chipped in on 18 for par. Louise Smith chipped in on 11 for par and Vema Schmitt chipped in on 14. Shirley Dawson confided she only had 14 putts but the contest of the day was for individual low gross. Even if Nadine Larkin didn't kiss the blarney stone because of the precarious leaning backward one must do to accomplish it. we- were glad to see her back safely from her trip to Ireland and England.
