MID-DAY SPECIAL ONLY $^95 ONLY PER TANNING SESSION. Sports Ladies' Goif CHAPEL HILL July 30, the Tuesday Ladies League played under gray skies and drizzle, but everyone was able to get their match in before the heavy rains came. Fox Hole Tap still has a slim lead ' over Classic Trophy for first place. Foz Hole has 68% points to Classic's 87. McHenry Favorite Sports holds down third place with 85. Steffan's Jewelers went ahead for Little Chef for fourth, to 61%. Acu Pac has 54, McHenry Floral 46 and Mar Ray Costumes 43%. The contest of the day was for ° individual low gross. Dorie Stewart was *np8 in Class A with 43. Sharon Delahanty led in Class B with 56. Betty Smith and Kathy Schaefer tied in Class C with 62's. Perhaps everyone was rushing their games to escape the rain, as there was only one birdie reported. Dorie Freund got it on No. 2. Kathy Schaefer had a chip-in on 14. Shirley Sutton had the misfortune of shoot ing four balls out of bounds from the tee on No. 7. This reporter hit five trees on No. 13 with the foursome following counting them with glee, and informing me that I must tell on myself as I did everyone else. We missed Louise Smith, who was abtifent because of an accident, an injury to her right arm. When the doctor asked she was crying be cause the injury hurt so much, as she was crying, she said: "No, I'm crying because 1 can't play golf." We wish her a speedy recovery. Until Tuesday, Esta. MCHENRY COUNTRYTLUB In spite of the miserable drizzle ' that splattered them, a large contin gent of Divot Dolls braved the de ments to participate in the one day besttoall event held Tuesday at Mc Henry Country Club. Throwing birdies and chip-ins all over the place, many of the gals came in with surprisingly good rounds. Leading the pack with a net 57 for the 18 hdes was the team of Carol Cooney and Arlette Cable. Closest competitors at five strokes back with net 82 were the teams of Floss and Freida Miller and Caro line Dalton and Kathy Vehring. Standing alon with 63 was the team of Joanie Buss and Kathryn Bolger. Four teams sporting nets of 64 were: Evie Castle and Virginia Turner, Dee Overton and Mary Mutchinsky, Fran Weyland and Mickey Farmer and Ruth Hisel and Gloria Spiess. All three teams at 65 each were Liz Nolan and Betty Phe- lan, Gloria Otth and Betty Smith, and Alvina Yopp and Bernice Dolce. Chip-ins were executed by Alvina Yopp on No. 1, Gloria Spiess on No .10, Carole Barnicle on 17, Freida Miller on 11 for a birdie, Floss O'ConneU on 17 for a birdie, and Judy Smithson on 3 for a birdie. In second place was Fran Weyland with 30, followed by Ruth Htod and Liz Nolan in third place with 21 each. . A quick note from the Nifty Nin- ers shows that Dorothy Flynn and Bea Pond were the winners in Flight A while Fran Brown soloed as the winner in Flight B. In spite of the yucUness of the day, good things happened and that made for... Happy Golfing! Liz. WL honors its very own 'Mr. Baseball' WONDER LAKE - Bob Uecker may be known nationally as "Mr. Baseball," but Wonder Lake's Bob Freund can carry that same title around Wonder Lake. Freund was honored Sunday by 60-or-so parents and friends as the 1985 Tee League program-Officially came to a close at Jacobsen Park. Forty-five randomly-selected tee leaguers showed up to play a three- inning exhibition contest during the festivities which honored Freund's seven years of work in helping de velop youth baseball in WL. Freund spearheaded the drive to create Jacobsen Park's diamond out of underbrush some seven years ago. The field was cleared of trees and brush and many untold hours of labor went into development of the field. Where there once were trees and underbrush there now stands two fields used by the Wonder Lake Tee League. Freund is retiring after five years of heading the Jacobsen Park Soft ball Organization. He was presented with a dinner for two at the Mill-Inn Restaurant, and was given a scroll from the people of Wonder Lake thanking him "for untiring dedica tion to the youth of Wonder Lake." So, if you've ever played orga nized baseball in Wonder Lake and if you've ever wondered who made it possible, look up Bob Freund. And tell him thanks. mmmmwtmmm* VALUABLE COUPONS ALL BEDS HAVE 5 NEW BULBS! A GOLDEN TAN - DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT! ITANFASTIC SUNTAN PARLOR "A 3100 W. L INCOLN « MrHENRV !
