Equipment, issue cards will be available after Aug. 1 in the West Campus main office, or the student office at East Campus. Before any student is allowed to practice, he/she must fill out an equipment issue form. To receive the form, each athlete must have a current physical; have the athletic code signed by they and their par­ ents; either purchase insurance or have a waiver form; and finally, pay a $2 towel fee. Football: Equipment will be is­ sued Friday, Aug. 9 at East Cam­ pus, 5 p.m. for the varsity, 6:30 p.m. for sophomores. The first practice will be Monday, Aug. 12, at 8:30 a.m. at East Campus. Prospective freshman football players will have a meeting at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, with a short practice to follow. Cross-Country: Wednesday, Aug. 14 is the date set for the first prac­ tice, at 8:30 a.m. at West Campus. Golf: An organizational meeting will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m., outside the boys' locker- room at West Campus. Soccer: , An organizational meet­ ing for all boys' soccer candidates will be Wednesday, Agu. 14, at 10 a.m. in the main gym at West Cam­ pus. A short practice will follow. Girls' Swimming: The West Cam­ pus pool is the site for the first practice, Thursday, Aug. 22 at 3 p.m. Volleyball: Practice will begin Monday, Aug. 19 at 9 a.m. at the West Campus tennis courts. Girls' Tennis: Practice is set to start Monday, Aug. 19 at the West Campus tennis courts. Hornets hold registration McHENRY -- The McHenry Hornets Junior Football Association will hold its registration on successive Saturdays, Aug. 3 and Aug. 10, at the McHenry VFW on east Route 120. T The registration will be held between noon at 4 p.m. both days. Any boy between fifth and eighth/grade can register, and will represent McHenry in the JupktfFoetoall League of northern Illinois, which includes teams from Round Lake and Winnetka. In the tournament openers, both at 6:30 p.m., Gambler West and Dave Smith Landscapers, both of McHenry, will do battle, while Miller & Hamm of Sunnyside will face Old Bridge of McHenry. At 7:30 p.m., Hiller Construction of Johnsburg will duel Bimbo's of McHenry, while Gambler East of McHenry and Woodstock's A Little Here & There will play at 8:30. Finally, at 9:30 p.m., 3R's Seawalls of Fox Lake and His & Her Hair Hut of Wonder Lake will square off. The tournament is sponsored by Ringwood's Rusty Nail Inn. The hosts are the event's defending champions. Semifinal games are slated for 2 p.m. Sunday, with the consolation championship scheduled for 5:15 p.m., and the finale for 6:30. The tournament will be contested at Knox Park. McHenry's Maxson takes in Sun Prairie race SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. - Mc­ Henry's Chris Maxson had the second-fastest qualifying time in time trials out of the 31 cars at the Sun Prairie, Wis. Raceway Sunday. Maxson also took third in the trophy dash after placing 8th in his heat. The McHenry native came up from his 11th position starting spot in the feature to finish a strong 6th, and is currently in 5th place in the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association (BMARA) point standings.
