McHENRY PLAINDEALER Section A Friday, August 16,1985 Page 3 Community / Community Calendar So they hear Earl Walsh, former McHenry Plaindealer columnist, shares a pa per with Marian (Anderson) Reinlie, who named his column. Rein- lie, of Florida, originally from McHenry, named the "So I Hear.." column in a contest where she won $5 worth of sporting goods. Years ago she was able to buy roller skates, a tennis racket, a can of tennis balls and other small items with that amount of money. Reinlie said the idea for the column was sparked from a Chicago Tribune column - "So They Tell Me." Did you know? A POET OF NOTE...Lakeland Park's Gloria Cassell has been chosen to attend a poetry convention August 23-25 in Reno, Nev. She will be one of a few hundred out of several thousand poets who will receive a "Golden Poet of '85" award sponsored by the World of Poetry Publishers. Steve Allen will be the event's emcee. A THREE PUTT...There were three generations of golfers at the August 8 Wonder Lake Open. Elmo Bradley, 68 of Wonder Lake was with his son, James, 42, of Glencoe and his grandson, Mike, 20. OVER THE WAVES...Johnsburg High School junior Melissa C. Ur- banski, 16, daughter of Ed and Carol Urbanski of Westwood Drive in McHenry completed "boot training" with the Sea Cadets at Greta Lakes Naval Center in North Chicago. WHEELER DEALER...At an August 2 convention of the Wicks Homes Dealers in Beloit, Wis., McHenry's Don Lechner received an award for being "Delear of the Year". KIDS WILL BE KIDS?..A recent call heard over the city police band on the scanner was for a squad car to report to the Route 120 bridge; it seems some kids were trying to roll an unconscious drunk into the water from his sleeping place under the bridge. What ever happened to baseball in the summer to keep kids busy? ifcS ici *•» SL 'ii t1"^ m AUGUST 16 NAIM-St. Margaret Chap.~Mtg. 7 p.m.-White Elephant Sale-Montini School Oak Rm.
