They won the ampionship of the Men's 12-inch ftball League, three games to one er Fox Hole. Congratulations fel- s, we are proud of you. •NGRATULATIONS IS A belated "Happy Birthday" to little Donna Jean Rolewski, who was one year old Aug. 5. It was celebrat ed with a party of about 50 friends and relatives on Aug. 4. It was that rainy weekend in August so every one was either in the garage or the house, but a good time was had by all. A belated "Happy Anniversary" is in order for Donna Jean's mom and dad, Greg and Debbie Rolewski, Sept.7. They celebrated by having a garage sale, then they went out to dinner. This is their second anniver sary. We wish them many more years of togetherness. TAKE HONORS AGAIN The Bauer family has done it again. They took first in the com- merical catagory at the Johnsburg parade last Sunday. St. John's school took averall first this year. The Bauers' float was represent ing their heritage. There were 10 of the 11 great-grandchildren of Olivia Bauer, ages 16 months to 10 years, on the float. They were honoring the Statue of Liberty in the middle of the float, with The Melting Pot of the World. Each great-grandchild repre sented a country; they were dressed for that country and held the agri cultural product that country brought to the US. Because of our Lady we've all prospered and the Bauer family has a heritage of 50 years in the Ringwood area. Congratulations to the Bauers for representing Ringwood and showing how we all must be thankful. There is a lot of thought and work that goes into these floats and the children love it. RINGWOOD SCHOOL Ringwood School officially opened for the 1985-86 school year with a flag raising ceremony. Principal Kim Perkins gathered members of the Junior American Citizenship club together near the flag pole, explained care of our flag, the prop er way to display the stars and stripes, and gave a brief history, including the fact that Betsy Ross made the first flag. The flags that fly at the school are special. The United States Flag flew over the Capitol in Washington D C. on Flag Day, June 14, and was a gift from US Representative Phil Crane. The State of Illlinois flag was a gift from State Senator Jack Schaffer. The Ringwood School Club, known as "Pint Size Patriots," is sponsored by the Kishwaukee Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Rev olution. Each student received a membership card, patriotic button, pamphlet on flag etiquette, and a coloring book. Many students re ceived American Sheild jacket patches for exemplary work on the color packet. " LONG SUMMER After three bouts of being in and out of the hospital it has been a long summer for Ila Hogan. Now she is home and hopefully will stay there without any more trips to the hospi tal. She's doing well now Except the visits she is getting from that fellow Art (arthritis) as we all do at times. Ila appreciates all the cards, notes, calls, thoughts and prayers she re ceived during this long summer. SURGERY Phyllis Ackerman arrived home last Sunday, after being in the hospi tal and having surgery Wednesday of last week. Phyllis has had her problems this summer and so it has been a long one for her, also. Drama clubs solicit help A conference with sponsors for the drama clubs of McHenry High School, East and West campuses, has indicated a need for community input and assistance. Faculty and students have very tight schedules with classwork and other school activities so the discus sion pointed to community help from interested people. The McHenry area has many people who have been connected with or interested in drama, as well as business oriented people and those with advertising and promotional backgrounds who experience would be very helpful. A variety of plays are presented each school year at both East and West, including a musical produc tion in the spring. However, the vol unteer time needed will not be as much as with some organizations. Anyone who would like to hear more about the needs and plans for this group is urged to attend the meeting to discuss the organization al details which will be held in Room D at West Campus at 7 p.m. Tues day, Sept,17. Those who cannot at tend, but would like to help, are requested to send their name and address to Drama Boosters, West Campus, 4724 W. Crystal Lake Rd., McHenry, II. 60050. To find out, let's go with MCCD volunteer Chuck Hoening, as he leads a night hike on the trails of Glacial Park, just west of Rt. 31 north of Ring- wood, starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22. Using a tape recording of owl calls, Chuck will attempt to call owls in Glacial Park.lt is typical for owls to investigate the presence of an unknown and potential rival in their territories. This activity pro vides a fascinating experience with the elusive screech owls that popu late our rural areas and suburban neighborhoods. Meet at the main (kettle) parking lot.
