Schneider, of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church displays huge ball indicating "101 Sunday" to be ob served at the church next Sunday. by the church board, Don Will iams, president, and is being coordinated by board member, Walter Schultz, with the assis tance of Glen Andersen. A great variety of staff and committee members from the parish are cooperating to insure the suc cess of this midsummer ven ture. MIDSUMMER BOOM PLANNED IN CITY CHURCH SUNDAY A midsummer boom in church attendance is being planned by Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, 404 North Green street, McHenry, according to Roger W. Schneider, pastor. The parish has designated Sunday, July 27, as "101 Sun day". On that day every member of the parish is encouraged to attend either the 8:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. worship service and to bring a friend, in this way assuring 101 per cent attend ance at worship. Special features of the day will include chauffeur service to and from the church for any one who desires it, a light breakfast at the church for ev eryone, a special communion service, and special group mu sic presentations led by mem bers of the parish. The Sunday church school children will be presented with a unique "101 Sunday" program followed by treats for everyone. All mem bers of the parish are encour aged to dress casually for the day. This special event in the life of the parish is being sparked BIRTHDAY CANDLES A happy birthday to my niece, 1 arbara Jean Grasser, who turned seven on July 21, and many happy returns Of the day to Dan Joza who will celebrate on Aug. 8. WILL I EVER LEARN <* I should haw known better than to say we were doing so well with the column the past few weeks because since I made that hasty statement my phone seemed very quiet...I need help to keep a weekly column going and ifs too hot to go door- to-door looking for news items., so how about my old-faith fuls giving me a call.. Also...girls...any of you who would be interested in formir a Country Club Woman's club beginning in September drop me a card or give me a call. It's a great idea. We are one of the few locations that does not have a Women's club. If you have any suggestions that might help out give me a ring and W*ll see if we can plan some thing for the fall. Till next week Lutherans Hold Bible School A Vacation Bible School will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, from Aug. 4 through Aug. 15. We took her to the lake this Summer, and she splashed and tumbled in the water joyously. I had to watch her every minute. I finally had to take her out by force--much to her consternation and objection. It took some doing to distract her. Actually, it's relatively simple to comfort a small child whose wishes have been thwarted. A toy, a cooljje, sometimes a loving hug will turn the trick. But how about grown-up frustrations? When sick with disappoint ment, heortbroken or dejected by a bad turn of events, where can an adult turn for consolation and support? God's Church, is the mainstay to every situation. Radiating God's goodness, it offers reassurance and relief to the baffled and the hope less. Men turning, toward its promise find new confidence and faith and hope recovered. 39 < Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Acts 'Acts Acts Acts Acts Acts *.Acts w 1 9 : 1 - 2 0 1 9 : 2 1 - 4 1 2 0 : 1 - 1 6 2 0 : 1 7 - 3 8 2 1 : l r I 4 2 1 : l f - 2 f 4 * 0 7 - 4 0 Scriptures selected by the- American Bible Society Copyright 1969 Keister Advertising Service.
