RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY -- In spite of the pleadings of hundreds of folks interested »in attending the square darwasprogram in the park last F riday evening, rain so familiar to the entire summer season in McHenry fell from a dark sky. However, it failed to daunt a large number who gathered at the band shell to participate or watch proceedings. PLAINDEALER PHOTO Launch New Occupational College Classes Dental orientation and sec­ retarial procedures is the first course in the three-semester Dental Assistant curriculum at McHenry county college. Upon completion of the program, stu­ dents will meet the eligibility requirements for taking the ex­ amination for certification ad­ ministered by the American Dental Assistants association. The qualifications for admis­ sion to the program include full-time employment in a den­ tal office or laboratory. This first course will be offered on Thursdays from 7 to 9:50 p.m. at the Crystal Lake high school, Room 251. The first courses to be of­ fered in the new Police Science curriculum are Introduction to Law Enforcement and Traffic Administration. A survey of ( county law enforcement of­ ficials aided in the selection of these courses from a list of several specialty courses to be developed in this field. jS&bth courses will be offered from 7 to 9:50 p.m. at the Crystal Lake high school. In­ troduction to Law Enforcement will meet in Room 254 on Mon­ day evening, and Traffic Admin­ istration will meet in Room M' HI MM PI MMM M I K. 172 on Wednesday evening. Hospitals in the college dis­ trict are cooperating with the college to offer Clinical Lab Orientation as the first spec­ ialty course in the new Med­ ical Lab Assistant Technology curriculum. The required Sci­ ence and General Education courses will be taken at the col­ lege's interim campus. In ad­ dition to meeting the admis­ sion requirements of the col­ lege, applicants to the Med­ ical Lab Assistant program m-ist be interviewed by a se­ lection board. This first course has been assigned six semes­ ter hours credit and £ill meet Monday through Friday, at 2- 5 p.m. at McHenry hospital, 3516 West Waukegan road, Mc­ Henry. Ten occupational programs are approved, and fifteen new programs are in various stages of development. Other pro­ grams which will be offered for the first time this fall, include Horticulture, Industrial Main­ tenance Technology and Nurse Aide. New courses and pro­ grams will be developed as needs and interests are iden­ tified. For further information, con­ tact Maury L. The final period of the Lake Region -.YMCA 1969 Summer day camp for youth, ages 7 to 13, will begin on Monday, Aug. 4 and continue until Aug. 15. A day camp experience will engage participants in a full ten-day program of outdoor activities of fun, adventure, physical skills and social awareness. Emphasis is placed on the im­ provement of each participant's swim abilities through the daily NA1T OFFERED FOR AMBULANCE RESCUE TRAINING A course designed to provide better ambulance service for the area had its beginning at McHenry hospital last Monday night, attended by rescue squad and ambulance personnel of the county. The National Ambulance Training Institute, consistingol a total of forty-five hours, will continue through Oct. 27. Sponsor of the institute is Northwest Ambulance Service, Inc., of McHenry in cooper­ ation witn tne McHenry county Medical society, the staff mem­ bers of McHenry hospital and Memorial Hospital for McHen­ ry County, the county sheriffs office and the Illinois state po­ lice. The Medical society doctors ?J are conducting classes at the two hospitals, extending three hours, from 7 to 10 o'clock Monday evenings. NATI is a non-profit organ­ ization composed of medical and interested professions whose guide is to increase the efficiency of ambulance person­ nel and to prepare a basis of accreditation. Ceriflcation is valid for two years, after which a refresher course is neces­ sary. Objective of the organi­ zation is to help establish pro­ fessional ambulance personnel to cope with any emergency. The first class on Monday dealt with the introduction and purpose of the course, given .by Dr. Peter Griesbach, and an explanation of the duties and responsibilities of ambulance personnel, equipment and main­ tenance and safety driving, giv­ en by Cpl. J. Erickson of the state police. Next Monday's meeting will also be held in McHenry^ pre­ sented by Dr. Stanul and Dr. Snyder. Other features of the program include chartered daily bus transpor­ tation to the Woodstock city park camp site from several convenient locations, arts and crafts, nature study, cook-outs, sports, games, hiking, Ashing, archery, tennis instruction, golf instruction, riflery instruction,,, singing, story telling, special days, and Monday adventure trips. Close personal supervision is maintained by the camp staff of six college age counselors. . Skill activities are conducted by the experienced counselors in small groups. The YMCA has set a num­ ber of goals which the staff hopes to achieve with each cam­ per. Parents are provided with a physical progress, emotional evaluation and social adjust­ ment report at the end of the cahip period. At a glance, par­ ents should find their youths have developed attitudes such as feeling accepted and effec­ tive as a member of his own sex and age group; finding joy in making others happy; re­ sponding to the group, yet feel­ ing a reliance upon his home; winning his way with the group; daring to express his own feel­ ings and adventurous spirit; increasing his interest in fair play and justice. Co-work­ ers this will be a special night as it is to honor our new Star Recorder, Senior Regent Car­ olyn Sima, who received her degree June 20. Come out and help make it a big night for her. McHenry Chapter now has three Star Recorders. Recorder Gloria Flannigan, Junior Graduate Regent Ila Ho- gan and Senior Regent Carolyn Sima reported on the convention and Collegian Alyce Kowal passed on a few of the ideas given at sessions she attend­ ed on July 2-to have good pub­ licity and how to have good chapter night programs. " S SvVlNE BAN John W. Lewis; director of the Illinois Department of Ag­ riculture, has prohibited ship­ ment into the state of all feed­ ing and breeding swine from Missouri and Arkansas. Lewis ordered the prohibition "topre­ vent hog cholera from infecting swine in Illinois. There have been more than 80 outbreaks of the disease in those two states recently," Lewis added. "Ill­ inois hog raisers should keep a close watch on swine they have purchased from out of state within the last 30 days," Lewis said, "particularly those from Missouri, Arkansas and In­ diana. In addition, Illinois hog raisers are reminded that state law requires all feeder swine shipped into the state to be quarantined to the property of the owner for 21 days." Randall Clark and Sgt. Wen­ dell Dean Clark of Richmond. Sgt. Wendell, who recently left for Bien Hoa, Vietnam, was married May 24 to Miss Barbara Ann Incorvia in a double ring ceremony at Nia­ gara Falls Air Force base chap­ el. Sgt. Randall, his twin brother, was married to Virginia Jan Meyer of New York, in St. John's Catholic church, Twin Lakes, Wis., on April 12. They are making their home in Ton- awanda, N.Y., while he is sta­ tioned at Niagara Falls Air Force base. The young men, twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Clark of Richmond, enlisted in the Air force in October of 1966 following their graduation in June of that-^ear from McHen­ ry high school. Until Sgt.
