The well-known local lawyer will be sworn in over the next few weeks and expects to start presiding over court rooms in the Ontario Central West region by mid-summer. O'Connor will be filling a vacan- ky in the region's Walkerton district. He said it seems like it's far away, however O'Connor explained it isn't a busy jurisdiction so he'll be rotated through the rest of the region too - which covers Guelph, Milton, Brampton, Orangeville and Owen Sound. _ Over the next few weeks, O'Connor will have to ease himself out of his practice and his current commitments, in a long string of com- munity involvements. including presi- dency of the Oakville Arts Council and fundraising for the Oakville- Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. "It's quite unfortunate that I'll have to ease myself out of these to prevent the actuality or appearance of con- flict," he explained. The appointment comes after some 27 years in the legal profession and O'Connor said he could continue in the job until retirement. He moved to Oakville in 1967. continuing to practice law in Toronto for several years. In 1972.
