Mounted on the kalloon is a remote control camera, connected via the cable to a small television monitor Grenville carries with him below. "That way I can see everything the camera sees, and I can get the exact shots I want." "The kalloon is tethered to me with a cable, and I canput it exactly where I want it by walkâ€" ing around," explains Grenville, who gave up a career as an insurâ€" ance company broker, turning a photography hobby into business. Member Broker ded to solicit properties currently listed QAKVLLE NCENTRET _ said Lowndes, referring to a technique called "castâ€"inâ€"place segmental construction" used to build the east structure. Lowndes said both ecological and financial facâ€" tors contributed to the decision to use the revolutionary technique. He said no scaffolding is used in segmental construction, rather special travellers are used as cantilevers during the construction. Lowndes said the decision to build both bridges simultaneously was made easier because Ontario Hydro had agreed to the early removal of one of its towâ€" ers located near the west bridge abutment. The west side of the bridge was constructed using a conventional scaffoldâ€" ing system, Lowndes explained. Lowndes said about 16,000 cubic metres of concrete were used in the bridge‘s construction. Lowndes said weather wasn‘t a factor in the bridge construction, since bridge sections were covered and heated to allow concrete to be poured through all kinds of weather. Once the bridge has officially opened, Lowndes said some minor work still needs to be done, including cleanâ€"up of the site. He said landâ€" scaping of the area will begin in September. The construction project was punctuated by a brief but disruptive monthâ€" long strike by truck drivers in 1992. The strike, which began June 3rd, and ended July 6th, affected concrete deliveries to the project. The project was also halted briefly during a twoâ€"week shutdown during the Canadian Open, which is held every year in September at the Glen Abbey Golf Club. The bridge is a short chip shot away from the 14th hole. Future phases of the project will include widening of Upper Middle Road to four lanes from Dorval Drive to Highway 25. 466 SPEERS RD. â€"842â€"5061 RESIDENTIAL + COMMERCIAL » INDUSTRIAL SPACE AGE SHELVING 33995 CLOSET SHELVING Based on 5‘ Closet Between Dorval 2 etoplights m%o"‘gg * Basket system and shoe rack optional Basket Systems Front89" ue called "castâ€"inâ€"place segmental construction" Lowndes said both ecological and financial facâ€" to use the revolutionary technique.
