Chris Wait and Kyle Weagant lead the offence with two goals each against Brampton Saturday. Weagant was a oneâ€"man wrecking crew against Chinguacousy with a fiveâ€"goal, eightâ€"point night Sunday. Ryan Anderson and Kevin Eansor were solid in net in both games. PEEWEE "A": Oakville Rangers Peewee "A" hockey team defeated Orangeville 5â€"4 Oct. 30 and then blanked Milton 4â€"0 Nov. 6 to raise its record to 5â€"4â€"1. Goals against Orangeville were scored by James Levey (2), Gary Futterman, Justin Warwick and Shane Labelle. Bob Flaman, Shawn Butchart, Levey, Warwick and Geoff Schmid assisted. Goals against Milton were scored by Butchart, Futterman, Don Meathrel and Flaman. Levey (2), Schmid, Flaman and Luke Ridley assisted. Next game is Nov. 13 against Elora at Glen Abbey. The team dropped a penaltyâ€"filled affair to Milton 2â€"1 then won the secâ€" ond 6â€"4 against Brampton, despite dressing only eight players as a result of game misconducts the previous evening, to raise its record to 6â€"2â€"2. Andrew Holman scored against Milton, assisted by Mike Probyn. Against Brampton, goals were scored by Robert Payne (2) and Stuart Matheson (2), Jonathan Yeh and Probyn. Assists went to Stephen King (2), Payne (2), Probyn, Yeh and Josh Crowley. MINOR BANTAM "AAA": Oakville Rangers Minor Bantam "AAA" hockey team lost to Brampton 2â€"1, but bounced back to defeat St. Catharines 4â€"3 to up its record to 4â€"2â€" 3. Against Brampton, the goal was scored by David Vandelaar and assistâ€" ed by Jason Gauthier and Brandon Gale. Ross Fiore, Chad Blundy, Jeff Wilson (2) had the goals against St. Catharines. Thomas Aquinas Raiders junior boys football team will have the opportunity to avenge last year‘s quarterâ€"final playoff loss to Aldershot Lions when the two teams meet in the Tier 2 high school championship next Wednesday at Nelson. "We‘re hoping to even the score," said Raiders coach Rick Kalvaitis, whose team narrowly defeated the Lester B. Pearson Patriots 7â€"6 in junior football action Wednesday to advance to the final. Aldershot ousted the Raiders from last year‘s junior football playâ€" offs with a 12â€"6 win. "(The Lions) have a quality coach and a quality team," said Kalvaitis. Meanwhile, the Loyola Hawks will be watching this year‘s final from the sidelines after dropping their game to the Lions 33â€"14 at home. "We‘re really disappointed with the loss. We feel we should have been in the final," said Hawks coach Ed Ponikvar. The Hawks lead the game at the end of the first half 14â€"12. Ponikvar said the Hawks easily could have been leading in the first half 21â€"0. Instead, some missed scoring opportunities allowed the Lions to get back into the game. The Lions then scored on three long touchdown plays in the second half to seal the victory. The Raiders waited until the last quarter before pulling out their victoâ€" ry against the Patriots. "It was a lastâ€"minute drive. The team came back when we really needed it," said Kalvaitis. Raiders running back Nelson Laurence scored from six yards out with about three minutes remaining and Mike Welch kicked the extra point to give Aquinas a 7â€"6 lead. The victory was sealed after Raiders defensive end Jeff Almon stripped the ball from a Pearson ball carrier with two minutes remaining. Another key play was made in the first half by Raiders defensive halfâ€" back Jim Louis who intercepted a Patriot pass in the end zone to preâ€" vent a touchdown. Rank wins Crossâ€"Country Bronze medal Tanya Rank, of the Oakville Legion Track and Field Club, won a bronze medal at the Canadian Minor Crossâ€"Country Championships last weekend at Centennial Park in Etobicoke. Rank (11), running in the atom girls division, completed the 2.5â€" km course in 11 minutes.
