At one time or another, Smith â€" who has been paintâ€" ing for 65 years â€" has delved into every conceivable medium. "I like them all. Everything is good fun," says Smith. ‘"For the past five years, I have started painting by drawing very loosely with oil pastel crayons on watercolor paper, and then. applying very wet washes so that lines remain as a resist." Smith began painting as a 10â€" yearâ€"old growing up on the Saskatchewan prairie. One of her first ‘canvasses‘ was a "great big wooden fence" across the street from where she lived.
