According to Halton Regional Police media relations officer Sgt. Joe Martin, Harding returned home last week and is recuperatâ€" ing nicely. "He is doing fine, doing quite ell," said Sgt. Martin. "He is doing much, much better. His amily is relieved at the overall utcome." Harding underwent a quadruple ypass procedure Dec. 28th at HAamilton General Hospital. He ad been in hospital since Dec. th after developing pneumonia, a â€"omplication of his heart condiâ€" tion. The 59 year old _ Harding retired Dec. 31 after 13 years as . chief. police and was replaced _ by Peter Campbell on Jan. 1. Sgt. Martin said Harding‘s plans to serve as head of operaâ€" tions for Ontario‘s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) have been delayed. The SIU is a civilâ€" ian watchdog group which probes police shootings and other inciâ€" dents in which someone is seriâ€" ously injured.
