Town makes plea to keep drains free It‘s not a strain to clear your drain â€" that‘s the word from Town Hall. While the Public Works Department is busy clearing major arterial and collector street drains, the Town is asking for the commuâ€" nity‘s help in removing away ice and snow from residential street drains. The need is immediate, since freezing temperatures expected this weekend will cause roads to flood and become skating rinks. If you‘re uncertain where the drain on your street is located, look for the lowest area where water has pooled. Conditions were already so treacherous on Friday that garbage collection was suspended for the day. Residents whose regular collecâ€" tion day Friday are asked to place their trash curbside on Monday. On Friday the Region attempted to complete its blue box collection since this is done on a biâ€"weekly basis and trucks would not be able to return for two weeks.
