It is important to understand that chiropractic does not cure disease. All disease is a result of the breakâ€" down in the body‘s ability to heal itself â€" from a simple headache to chronic degenerative disease. A docâ€" tor does not heal a cut finger, a broken bone, a kidney malfunction or an injured back, nor do drugs like Aspirin or muscle relaxants. Our body does the work of healing. In fact, it is busy repairing itself in a million ways every minute, every hour, every day of our lives. That‘s what chiropractic is all about â€" healing the body. Gentle chiropractic adjustments restore the healthy current of nerve impulses between the brain and all parts of the body, by correcting vertebral subluxations (bones of the spine â€" out of proper alignment). With the subluxations corrected the body becomes stronger and functions the way it was designed to function. To the reader who has been curious about the claims of chiropractic, these case studies will seem unbelievable or impossible. But not to those who believe that good health is our natural state. From time to time we will share some actual case studies taken from practice. It is important to rememâ€" ber that chiropractic does not profess to cure conditions, but rather, when the subluxation is adjustâ€" ed, the body does correct itself. Note that not all conditions respond exactly the same in different individuals as response and number of adjustments will vary. Case #1 Bedwetting A 5â€"yearâ€"old female had been wetting her bed for 6 months. She had been to a medical doctor and was given several rounds of antibiotics to get rid of what was called a bladder infection. When that did not work, she was brought to various doctors and given differing diagnoses about her problem. It was at this time she started getting chiropractic adjustments, after her second adjustment she stopped wetting her bed. While some children like this one, experience results immediately, others take more time. Care is not m», _ based on symptoms, but instead on the severity or longevity of the vertebral subluxations. A boy now 6 years old started having recurring ear infections at 9 months of age. At age 4 he also began suffering from recurring sinus infections. During the last 5 years his "treatments" have consisted of: 4 sets of tubes inserted in his ears, having his adenoids and tonsils removed, having allergy tests, and taking hundreds of doses of various antibiotics, decongestants, steroids, nasal sprays, and other drugs. When a consultation with a pediatric otolaryngologist resulted in a recommendation of sinus surgery the chiropractic alternative was sought. After his second chiropractic adjustment, symptoms began to improve. 2 weeks after his first adjustment, he was examined by his pediatrician. The pediatrician‘s examination showed that the sinus infection and the Case #2 Ear Infections infection in his right ear was gone and remained so on follow up examinations. All people young and old alike deserve to have their spines checked. For more inforâ€" mation call your local chiropractor.
