A 2 km Family Fun Run has been added to this year‘s event for anyone wishing to participate over a shorter distance, with no timing involved. Starting at 9 a.m., runners in the 10K race will leave the startâ€" ing line at the Optimist Centre on Commercial Street. After running north on Commercial Street, they will turn west onto Main Street, proceeding through town into the countryside west of Milton and up to the top of the escarpment. There, runners will reach a turnaround point and retrace the route back to the Optimist Centre. Approximately 5 to 10 minutes after the 10K race has started, the 2K Fun Run will start at the Optimist Centre, proceed north on Commercial Street to Main Street and then return to the Optimist Centre to finish. Each 2K particiâ€" pant will receive a ribbon. (Entry Fee â€" $5 Individual or $20 max./Family.) There are several race cateâ€" gories for both male and female entrants in the 10K run, deterâ€" mined by age on race day. Awards will be presented to the top male and female overall, as well as, the top three finishers 10K run Sept. 11th patago in each age group (no duplicaâ€" tion). This year, there will be troâ€" phies for the first male and female police officers across the finish line in the 10K run (Top Cop Awards). Another addition to the 1994 event is the Halton High School Challenge Cup, which will be presented to the Halton High School with the most particâ€" ipants in the 10K run. Several prizes will be drawn after the race, with the special feature being two hours, for two people in the Air Canada flight simulator with an instructor. Entry fees for the run are $15 before Sept. 3rd, increasing to $20 from then until race day. Value â€" $2,000.
