Preliminary rounds resulted in a 3â€"1 win over Welland Optimist Club, a 2â€"1 loss to the Pelham Snickers and a 5â€"0 win over Welland Highway Clearing. Outstandingly defensively were Vanda Andrade, Kelly Dunn and Lisa Hasinek. Forwards Newcombe and Dayton Ball played a great game. The ‘battle of Oakville‘ was fought on Tuesday by the girls underâ€"11 and underâ€" 12 rep soccer teams with the older girls prevailing by a 5â€"3 margin. The underâ€"11 girls, however, did not succumb easily or quickly, leading their older opponents by a goal twice during the match.
