According to Town Manager Harry Henderson - to whom the unexpected death came as a complete shock - Zubyk gained the respect of her fellow employees through her professional and personal approach in working with people. A hard worker who was innovative in her approaches, Zubyk always tempered her dedication with an attitude of fun, he added. “I’ll miss her,” said Henderson. Director of Finance and Treasurer Michelle Seguin characterized her as a “great individual” and agreed with Henderson that she was a “real agent of change.” Geraldine Zubyk, 53 Town’s human resources director Flags are flying half-mast at Town Hall this week following the death of the municipality’s popular Directory of Human Resourcrers. A Zubyk - a divorced mother of two - joined the Corporation of the Town of Oakville in July 1989. As the new Director of Human Resources, Henderson said she offered the municipality a much-needed level of knowledge and experi- ence plus a sense of leadership which set a new tone for employee relations. Prior to her stint in Oakville, Zubyk spent 16 years in the Ontario college system, starting out as Personnel Assistant at Fanshawe College in London, moving up to Co-ordinator of Collective Bargaining for the Ministry of Colleges and Universtities and finally becoming Director of Personnel at St. Clair College. Zubyk'also developed and taught courses in Benefits Administration and was a consultant in performance appraisal and job evaluation. Her many charita- ble afiiliations included the United Way. Memorial contributions can be made to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Corn Festival on Sunday Vlsitation was held Tuesday.
