The Association‘s monthly market report, prepared by Brethour Research Associates, noted that the 1,544 new homes sold month amounts to an increase of 28 per cent . over November, 1993, and a typical seaâ€" sonal decrease of seven per cent from October, 1994. For the fifth consecutive month, condominium sales have taken a much higher than usual market share. Of the 1,544 sales, 887 (57 per cent) were freehold while 657 (43 per cent) were condominiums. "Of particular interest is the sucâ€" cess of office to condominium conâ€" version projects, which made up more than 40 per cent of total condominium sales in November," Langer noted. "This is an untapped market segâ€" ment which seems to have found parâ€" ticular favor among young, upwardly mobile professionals, many of whom may have been renting in the same neighborhoods," said Langer. "These projects are offering prime downtown and midâ€"town locations, well served by public transit, at very attractive prices," Langer added. "With 11 months in the books, GTA new home builders have already recorded 16,207 sales, compared with 11,297 in all of 1993. We expect to end the year at approximately 17,000 sales, representing a dramatic 50 per cent increase over last year.
