But only for a limited time. "It‘s a great way to play an old favounte Man advantage no advantage for Blades who give Milton early Christmas present The Oakville Blades were toe to toe with the firstâ€" place Milton Merchants for most of the game Tuesday night before finally derailing and losing by a 6â€"3 score which was not indicative of the play. The Blades watched a 2â€"0 lead gradually turn into a 3â€"2 deficit in the third period. To their credit, they evened it up a 3â€"3 before the wheels fell off in the last six minutes as they gave up three unanswered goals, including two goals while they had the man advantage. In all, they allowed three shorthanded goals while countering with only one on the power play. That particular shortcoming carried over from Saturday‘s 8â€"4 win over the lowly Royal York Rangers when general manager Murray Walker had remarked that he sometimes wished it was like football so the team could decline the penalties. To be fair, he said the puck didn‘t particularly bounce the Blades‘ way, in particular for Kent Williams who missed half a dozen glorious situations. The Blades close out 1994 with a preâ€"Christmas game this Friday against the always tough Hamilton Kilty Bees. Their next scheduled game in the Provincial Junior A west division isn‘t until Tuesday, January 3 when > they host the cellar dwelling Georgetown Raiders. In between, however, they will be participating in the Newmarket junior A showcase tournament. There are 20 teams involved and the Blades are in a fourâ€"team division with two teams from the east diviâ€" sion of the Provincial Junior A league (last place Ajax and fourth place Cobourg) and with the second place team from the Northern Ontario Junior A league (Sturgeon Falls). The Blades play Ajax on Tuesday at 11:20 a.m., Cobourg on Wednesday at 8 a.m. Sturgeon Falls on Thursday at 12:40 p.m. There will be plenty of scouts on hand from Major Junior A leagues and colleges, but Walker advised that the best way to get noticed is to meld it into a team effort. Scoring in Tuesday‘s game against Milton were Mike Gamble, Corey Waring and Jason Slaney. Picking up assists were Mike Byrne, Corey Waring, Matt Swain, Kent Williams, Bryan Vines and Mike Gamble. Walker said the Blades have let go two players â€" Marcel Kars and recently signed Marty Corrigan. p6el ‘gz 12qwaoag YHAVIG I11IIAMYVO â€" 22 ATOM TRIPLEâ€"AAA A hot Mascot Truck Part Rangers fired 27 goals in just three games to demolish Welland, Streetsville and Halton Hills in the past week.
