A 24-year-old Oakville man was driving the 2004 Suzuki motorcycle on Weber Street East shortly after 4 p.m. A 1997 Ford van, northbound on Fairview Avenue, was turning left onto Weber when the collision occurred in the intersection. Both people on the bike were rushed to Grand River Hospital, where the woman -- Prescilla Anjos of Oakville -- was later pronounced dead, according to Waterloo Regional Police. At press time yesterday the motorcycle driver remains in hospital with serious injuries. The 49-year-old Waterloo man who was driving the van was treated at the scene for minor injuries. No one else was in the van at the time. Collision reconstruction investigators closed Weber at Fairview for approximately six hours as they conducted their on-scene investigation. Inspector Bryan Larkin said that the results of mechanical inspections on both vehicles will not be released. At press time no charges had been laid. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact the Traffic Services Branch at 519-650-8500, ext. 8856.
