Thanks to the generosity of the Oakville YMCA, a portion of the OTMH Cardiac Rehab Program - the exercise and education component - will soon be moving to the Y's newly expanded wellness centre located at 410 Rebecca Street. The Program will continue to be operated by Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and all other elements of the program - the clinic and intake appointments - will continue to be conducted at the Hospital. OTMH Cardiac Rehab staff involved in the exercise and education components will also be moving over to the Y and are looking forward to working with their patients in an environment that promotes life-long physical activity and offers activity alternatives such as walking on the Y's indoor track. "Moving the rehab portion of the program out of the hospital will help make exercise a natural part of the patient's lifestyle. Patients can reap the benefits of both OTMH's clinical expertise and the Y's new facilities," explains Dr. Donald Peat, Cardiac Rehab Medical Director. The inaugural event raised $21,000 in net proceeds towards the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at OTMH. Special thanks to sponsors BMO Nesbit Burns and the Bronte Harbour Yacht Club as well as the OTMH Sailing Regatta committee for their hard work and support. The OTMH Auxiliary is seeking volunteers in a variety of different positions including: · BINGO Volunteers Our BINGO program needs ticket sellers during games at the Mayfair Bingo Hall in town. Our dedicated, fun-loving team of volunteers raise approximately $25,000 a year for OTMH. They could use your help once or twice a month, or even once or twice a year, as your availability allows. Bingo runs on alternate Wednesday afternoons in a completely smoke-free environment. · Leadership Volunteers The Auxiliary is looking for leadership volunteers in a range of volunteer services. These positions (some of which serve on the Auxiliary Board) help us to coordinate the activities of the volunteers in certain areas, are an important communication link between the Auxiliary, staff and front-line volunteers, and may also assist with scheduling and training.
