"We hope it will be a recognizable symbol in our community for many years to come," said HEN co-ordinator Stephen Dankowich. The artist who created the HEN's new logo is Christopher Hogue of Mississauga, a graduate of the Cawthra Park School of the Arts. "Nature plays a large role in my artwork," said Hogue. "The HEN organized a `new logo contest' that was sponsored solely by the Loomis Art Store in Mississauga on Hyde Park Gate. We received a great response with a total of 12 logos submitted from ten different artists (one person submitted three different designs)," said Dankowich. "In making a decision, a major consideration for the HEN Steering Committee were the results received from 259 visitors to the Halton Eco Festival in Oakville on April 1-2 and from 97 visitors to the Riverfest on June 4 in Norval. A total of 356 visitors "voted" for their favorite logo. All of the logos were featured on a green and blue felt display board," said Dankowich. Patrick Masson, manager of the sponsoring Loomis Art Store, presented Hogue with a $250 gift certificate to be spent at his Loomis Store.
