The Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) announced last month that Glen Abbey Golf Club has been selected as host venue for the 2008 Canadian Open, scheduled to take place from July 21-27, 2008. Glen Abbey has been the site of Canada's national open championship on 23 previous occasions. The 1977 Open marked its inaugural year with golfing great Lee Trevino taking the title. The most recent Canadian Open played at Glen Abbey occurred in 2004. In an unforgettable tournament for Canadians, Vijay Singh edged Bright's Grove, Ontario's Mike Weir in a playoff to earn his first title in Canada. "We are delighted to return the Canadian Open to the legendary Glen Abbey, one of the most spectator-friendly golf courses in the world. Our national championship is steeped in tradition and Glen Abbey has been the stage for many memorable moments in Canadian Open lore." said Stephen Ross, RCGA Executive Director. Owned and operated by ClubLink Corporation as a premium daily fee course, Glen Abbey Golf Club has a long history with the Canadian Open. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the Abbey opened in 1976 to serve as the permanent home of the Open with amphitheatre settings around the greens for fans and to provide an exciting test for PGA Tour professionals. Tiger Wood's 6-iron from 218 yards out of a fairway bunker on the 18th hole to win the 2000 Open is still fresh in the memory of many golf fans. "ClubLink is very proud to host the 2008 Canadian Open at Glen Abbey Golf Club, which has great history as the permanent home of the Canadian Open for almost 25 years with past champions such as Tiger Woods, Greg Norman and Mark O'Meara," said Robert Poile, President and CEO of ClubLink Corporation. "The RCGA had every intention to host the 2008 Canadian Open for golf fans in Quebec but due to circumstances beyond our control the golf course will not be ready in time," said Ross. "The RCGA remains committed to the Terrebonne project and partners who will own and operate it. We were delighted at being able to help bring the prestigious President's Cup to Montreal for 2007 and look forward to staging the Canadian Open in Quebec at Terrebonne in the near future." The 2008 Canadian Open will mark the 99th playing of the tournament. · Front page of the newspaper · High visibility · Full colour glossy post-it notes · Bold colours · Immediate impact · Your message travels from newspaper to... dashboard to... refrigerator to... anywhere!
