Every year, Oakville residents look forward to the Parade and line up to watch colourful floats, marching bands and the big arrival of Santa Claus with his eight little reindeer. For most communities, the parade signals the start of the Christmas shopping season. The Oakville Santa Claus Parade has been delighting families, residents and visitors for over 50 years. Now it's your turn to be a part of all the holiday cheer and enter a float. This year's Parade theme is `Favourite Christmas Stories'. Creativity and originality are key. The Grinch is already a popular idea, so please check out our website next week for unique story ideas. We want to see a variety of floats going down the streets of Oakville, keeping with our theme. The Santa Claus Parade committee urges all groups to get involved in the excitement. The 2006 Parade takes place Saturday, Nov. 18, beginning at 9 a.m. and will follow a new route. This year's Parade will begin at Lakeshore Road and Reynolds, go west on Lakeshore to Kerr Street, north on Kerr and end at Kerr and Stewart streets.
