The revamped squad is comprised of a core of returning novice AAA players and an infusion of talent from the OMHA champion novice AA and OMHA finalist novice A clubs. Oakville started slowly, losing three of its first five contests, but then rallied to go 3-0-1 in its next four games. The hot stretch started with a 3-3 tie in Guelph, with Ashur Elliot (two) and Cole Buchan scoring for the Rangers. Oakville then edged the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs 2-1. Elliot scored the game-winner late in regulation, while Andrew Burns also tallied. Michael Bradshaw earned the victory in goal. In their next game, the Rangers rode the strong netminding of Ben Blacker to a 5-1 win. Andrew Mumaresque and Elliot each scored twice and Boston Elliott contributed a single, with Mitchell Prentice and Craig Cook earning three assists each. Finally, Oakville whipped Guelph 6-1 in a rematch with the Jr. Storm. Oliver Chau, Buchan and Elliott sparked the win with three-point outings, and Luke Whitehouse, Sam Vasilaros-Wilson and Josh Kosack also scored goals. Matthew Spencer, Dallas Taylor and Jesse Barwell each contributed at least one assist during the four-game stretch. "The coaches couldn't be happier with how all the guys have come to work hard at all their dry-land (training), practices and games," said Rangers assistant coach Duncan Harvey. "You can tell how much they each want to improve as hockey players. This is such a great group and the best is yet to come."
