Dr. Fish is Medical Director of the Ross Tilley Burn Unit of Toronto's Sunnybrook Health Science Centre, and is one of Canada's leading burn-care specialists, who has dedicated his career to helping patients in the Greater Toronto Area and has contributed to medical aid in Africa. "We in the community take for granted that should the occasion arise when our children or loved ones may require the type of unique skill that Dr. Fish provides, that he, his associates and his team will be there to help," says Oakville resident and Shrine member Marzi Byramjee. "We though it might be appropriate to create the circumstance to say, we value you." The event will feature music by The Naked Flame as well as a raffle and auction. Tickets for the event are $ 75 per person or $750 for a table of 10. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Canadian Shriners Hospital for Children, which is a charity that provides free orthopaedic and burn care to patients 18 years and younger. Town Council will be seeking 9 qualified volunteers to serve for a four-year term of office on the Oakville Public Library Board, beginning in January 2007. Each Board member is required to contribute approximately 10 hours per month, including attendance at regular monthly meetings and other library-related events. Board member responsibilities include planning, advocacy, securing adequate resources, and reporting to governing officials and the general public. As per the Ontario Public Libraries Act, board members must be Canadian citizens, 18 years of age, and a resident of Oakville.
