20 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday October 25, 2006 www.oakvillebeaver.com Change You Can Trust OAKVILLE'S DEVELOPMENT IS AT A CRITICAL POINT. WE CAN'T AFFORD TO MAKE A MISTAKE WITH OUR NEXT MAYOR. ALL THE CANDIDATES AGREE ON THE PRIORITIES, SO THIS ELECTION IS ABOUT LEADERSHIP AND GETTING THINGS DONE. WHAT WE DON'T NEED ARE CAREER POLITICIANS OR PEOPLE THAT COMPLAIN FROM THE SIDELINES. WE NEED A LEADER WITH PROVEN SUCCESS MANAGING GROWTH. WE NEED A LEADER WHO UNDERSTANDS HOW TO GET THINGS DONE WITHIN THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT SYSTEM. Chris Stoate is the ONLY candidate in this election with PROVEN BUSINESS SUCCESS combined with EXPERIENCE IN MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT. Chris has been an Oakville Town Councillor since 2003. Despite family and business obligations, Chris entered municipal politics because he knew the best way to make a difference was to get directly involved and learn how municipal government works. Chris is also the President of LaserNetworks, a company he founded 20 years ago and grew to employ 100 people in North America, including 60 in its Oakville head office. The Company has appeared three times in Profit Magazine as a high growth company. All the candidates in this Mayoral election agree that Oakville needs a better plan to manage growth, more recreational and arts facilities, a better business climate, tax reform, and a focus on the environment and public safety. The question is: Who do you trust to get the job done? Chris strongly believes we need a new attitude of how to get things done, rather than waste time and energy explaining why we can't. He has a proven track record in his ability to successfully manage growth by building a plan and working cooperatively with others to make it happen. What will Chris focus on to make sure our Quality of Life is improved, not diminished: 1) Urgently revise our official town plan. 2) Gain an equal footing with developers. 3) Attract businesses to Oakville so more residents can avoid the frustrations of commuting and enjoy more time with family and in the community. 4) Bring the number of recreational and arts facilities to par with other communities. We must catch-up to the needs of our population. 5) Achieve tax fairness so current residents don't pay for growth. 6) Set tangible and achievable goals for Environmental protection.
