Sweeney was recently elected as the league's new president, taking over from the outgoing Brenda Del Pozo. "Brenda is stepping down as president (and) leaving Oakville Little League in very good shape, having ensured that we have solid administrative capabilities, an outstanding house league program and a very competitive All-Star program," Sweeney said. "I'm a strong believer in the Little League's goal to provide the youth of Oakville with opportunities to develop their life skills in citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being through baseball." Sweeney said the fair-play house league system is the "driver of Little League's success", noting it allows for development of all players regardless of ability and skill level.
